Beautiful Summertime!

Today is such a beautiful summer day. A front came through last night and the humidity has gone and its just a wonderful day as far as temps can be in the summertime. I Love these little unexpected cool spells after a long hot spell.
I was just browsing through the NYPL digital site again this morning. I could browse and look at the pictures on it all day. I don't have alot of post about so I just picked a few pictures to post. The picture above is Georgia O'keeffe, one of my favorite artists. And the Lady below is the wonderful Lady Bird Johnson, one of the most inspirational women in history. She was so into making our country look pretty and clean. She started the Beautification of American Highways.
I wasn't too crazy about her husband but she had class in my book.

I hope every one is having a wonderful summery week!!!!

That "Buds and Blossoms" really touches me. She looks so blissful! I always thought Lady Bird left quite a legacy for us all. She was really an amazing woman. Probably had to be -- I'm not sure her husband was the easiest to live with! Cheers!

I love the painting of the flowers. Beautiful! I miss all the wild flowers. They stopped doing it between Nashville and Clarksville a while back. I will miss you over the next few weeks. I'll be thanking of you while I'm floating in my pool! :) I tease!!! You will have to come up my house.

I had to chuckle as I gave in to an impulse this morning and needed to have fresh air even with high humidity--you know over 20%--and pollen. This is the absolute worse time of year for my sensitivites and boy, did I have a reaction. Cough snort and sneeze and spit up phleghm. Okay, too much information, but summer is gorgeous!

Georgia is in the latest Victoria magazine. I love her work and the picture you chose to share is new to me! Tks!
I also like the Ladybird photo..she was so active in getting wild flowers spread across Texas...in fact my poppies came from http://www.wildseedfarms.com/
I've ordered from them for over 20 years. It's the best wildflower seed I've ever seen.

I got the book...it will go to the beach with me next week!! Tks!!

Have a good day!!

I have to agree, Lady Bird was a class act.

We've been having some much cooler days here as well after having the humid weather last week. I think I prefer being cool...the hot flashes and the humidity were not agreeing with me! lol Loved the pictures you posted. Being Canadian, I never really learned much about Lady Bird Johnson but I do remember hearing about her!! xoxo

What lovely art! I love vintage. And you'll love this...Georgia O'Keeffe was my sister-in-law's mother's cousin. And she taught art at the university here. I recently went to the Georgia O'Keeffe museum in Santa Fe.

Have a good day, Beth!

I think Lady Bird Johnson was responsible for helping pass a law removing billboards from the sides of the freeways, but believe was told that it was only for so many years and has now expired.
